About Me

Married to Joyce at 21. We both went to college at night while I worked in the finance industry and she was a stay-at-home mom. Originally a consumer lender, I was lucky to move to commercial lending. My highest position was Senior Loan Officer at a small bank.

After twenty years in lending, I went to UCSB to earn a Ph.D. which I received in 1998. My first economics job was at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserves in Washington DC.

In 2000 I returned to UCSB to run their Economic Forecasting Project. In 2009, my entire team moved down the freeway to California Lutheran University.

Since 2000, I've concentrated on forecasting, economic policy, economic growth, and public speaking. I give between 25 and 55 talks a year.
